When soot, smoke and water combine – the result is quite messy. RPI provides thorough on-site cleaning after fire or smoke damage, from deodorization through detailed cleaning of air vents, furniture, fixtures, walls, ceilings and floors. RPI is available 24/7 the premier smoke damage cleanup company in the bay area.
We begin deodorizing the residence or facility immediately. Deodorization is an ongoing process throughout the course of the restoration, and may consist of the following procedures:
In cases where it is necessary to clean and restore a structure’s air conditioning and/or heating system, our HVAC technician first checks for soot or particulate migration by inspecting the unit and return air filter as well as the end of the duct line. If the system requires cleaning, our team removes the air registers and detail-cleans them with a degreaser.
While registers are down, we vacuum inside the duct lines as far as possible to remove any particulate matter. We reinstall registers and cover them with a filter media to prevent re-depositing of particulate on restored items. After it has been cleaned, we apply a special sealer throughout the duct system, using an atomizer to ensure it covers all interior surfaces.
Depending on the severity of the damage, we clean interior walls and ceilings and/or prepare them for painting or wallpapering.
We make every effort to restore flooring materials to a condition before the loss. Unless hard floors suffer discoloration to the protective coating, we clean them thoroughly instead of stripping and refinishing.
Typically, we can clean all fixtures and appliances thoroughly while in place and on-site.
Although cleaning may not restore all furniture to a “new” condition, we work hard to repair and refurbish it as much as possible. For example, if furniture is discolored from the loss we will provide documentation to the insurance adjuster.
Regardless of the origin of the fire, it is possible for smoke to permeate the structure of a building. If excess humidity and moisture combines with smoke, it can form a corrosive residue that may cause secondary damage. RPI is prepared to quickly remove smoke residues and treat at-risk surfaces with a corrosion inhibitor that will help to protect these items. Examples of these surfaces that are in danger of corrosion are: marble, stone, grout, aluminum, glass, fixtures and appliances.
RPI’s highly qualified and detail-oriented technicians will work to restore your belongings to pre-loss condition through the use of varying cleaning techniques. RPI also has a large network of trustworthy, professional subcontractors for restoration of specialty items such as fine art, antique furniture, pianos, and grandfather clocks. Each item is assessed to determine the best method of restoration. It is then cleaned, deodorized, ozoned and stored until the repairs on your home are completed.
